Terms and Conditions of Rental

Current version of CarPoint Terms. Romanian is the master version. RU/EN are translations for convenience.

01

General Provisions

These Rental Terms and Conditions (hereinafter, the "Terms") govern the relationship between „Car Point Group" SRL (operating under the CarPoint brand, hereinafter, the "Lessor"), acting through the carpoint.md website, and any individual or legal entity entering into a vehicle rental agreement (hereinafter, the "Client" or "Renter").

1.1. The Terms apply to all reservations and rental agreements made through the carpoint.md website, by telephone, via messaging applications, or in person.

1.2. By placing a reservation and signing the rental agreement, the Client confirms that they have read, understood, and fully accepted the Terms.

1.3. The rental agreement executed at the time of vehicle handover shall prevail over the general provisions of these Terms in the event of any discrepancy.

1.4. The Terms are drawn up in Romanian as the master language. The Russian and English versions are translations; in the event of any discrepancy, the Romanian version shall prevail.

02

Renter Requirements

2.1. Minimum age: 21 full years as of the rental start date.

2.2. Minimum continuous driving experience: 3 years, evidenced by a valid driving licence.

2.3. Required documents: a driving licence recognised in the Republic of Moldova; a passport or ID card.

2.4. The absence of any restrictions on driving a motor vehicle.

2.5. The Lessor reserves the right to refuse to enter into an agreement without providing reasons.

03

Reservations

3.1. Reservations may be made through the carpoint.md website, by telephone, or via messaging applications.

3.2. A reservation is provisional until confirmed by CarPoint.

3.3. No later than 1 day before the start of the rental, the Client shall submit photographs of their driving licence and passport/ID.

3.4. Failure to provide the documents within the specified time is grounds for cancellation of the reservation.

3.5. The cancellation policy is handled on a case-by-case basis upon written request.

04

Rental Payment and Security Deposit

4.1. The rental rate is the one in force on the reservation date. Prices are displayed in EUR for informational purposes.

4.2. Payment of 100% of the rental cost is due on the day of vehicle handover. Amounts shown in EUR are converted into MDL at the official BNM exchange rate on the payment date. Accepted payment methods:

  • cash — exclusively in Moldovan lei (MDL), in accordance with Moldova's currency regulation (Law No. 62-XVI/2008);
  • bank card (Visa, Mastercard) via POS terminal — the transaction is processed in MDL;
  • bank transfer to the corporate account of „Car Point Group” SRL:
    • from Moldova — in MDL;
    • from abroad (non-resident clients) — in EUR or USD, to the foreign-currency account.
  • other methods (PayPal, Revolut, Wise, online payment link) — available only for payments from abroad, upon request and after prior agreement with management.

The Client selects the payment method from those accepted.

4.3. In addition to the rental payment, the Client provides a security deposit of EUR 100 to EUR 300 (MDL equivalent). The exact amount is determined by the circumstances.

4.4. The security deposit is collected in cash only, in MDL, at the official BNM exchange rate on the payment date. No card pre-authorisation is performed.

4.5. The security deposit is refunded in full provided there is no damage and no outstanding amounts.

4.6. In the event of damage, the corresponding amount is withheld from the security deposit; any difference shall be paid separately (see section 11).

05

Vehicle Handover and Return

5.1. Handover and return take place at the CarPoint car park at the agreed time. The Lessor operates by prior appointment only and does not accept walk-in clients.

5.2. The Client shall arrive at the agreed time and notify the Lessor of any changes in advance.

5.3. At handover, the parties verify the vehicle's condition, mileage, and fuel level, and sign the rental agreement and handover protocol.

5.4. The vehicle is delivered with a full fuel tank and shall be returned with a full fuel tank; otherwise, the corresponding amount is withheld from the security deposit.

5.5. Any hidden damage shall be recorded in a separate protocol with prior notification to the Client.

06

Vehicle Cleanliness

6.1. The vehicle is delivered to the Client clean, both outside and inside. The Client undertakes to return the vehicle in the same clean condition.

6.2. Why this matters. Asking for the vehicle to be returned clean is not a way for CarPoint to make money (the actual cost of washing a car is minimal). The main reason is to allow a proper visual inspection at handover and return. If the vehicle is covered with a layer of dirt or dust, neither the CarPoint representative nor the Client can spot fresh scratches or damage. This requirement protects both sides: the Client, from disputes over damage they did not cause; CarPoint, from having to sort things out after the fact.

6.3. A reasonable compromise in bad weather. If it is raining at the time of return, or weather conditions make a full wash pointless, it is enough for the Client to remove the heavier dirt so that the body of the car can be visually inspected. CarPoint understands and accepts this compromise.

6.4. If the vehicle is returned in a condition that does not allow a visual inspection of the body or interior, the Client shall pay a cleaning service fee. The fee ranges from EUR 10 to EUR 20 (or the equivalent in MDL) depending on the type and size of the vehicle. The exact amount is stated in the rental agreement for each model.

6.5. The fee referred to in clause 6.4 is not a penalty. It covers only the direct cost of the wash service itself and does not include the time spent by the CarPoint team to arrange it (driving the vehicle to the car wash, waiting, and returning it to the car park). The corresponding amount is withheld from the security deposit or paid separately on return.

07

Late Return

7.1. The return time is specified in the rental agreement.

7.2. A delay of up to 2 hours is free of charge, provided that prior notice is given.

7.3. A delay exceeding 2 hours is charged as a full additional rental day.

7.4. Systematic late returns or failure to return the vehicle will result in measures provided for by the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, including a report to the police.

08

Rules of Use

The Client undertakes to use the vehicle with reasonable care. THE FOLLOWING ARE PROHIBITED:

8.1. Smoking inside the vehicle (including electronic cigarettes and vapes).

8.2. Transporting animals without a carrier.

14.2. If CarPoint receives a fine after the vehicle is returned, a copy of the decision will be forwarded to the Client.

14.3. CarPoint reserves the right to charge an administrative fee for processing the fine.

14.4. Unpaid fines are withheld from the security deposit; if identified after its return, they shall be paid separately.

15
